chase the sun .

Hello there! I'm Jo, a geek, bookworm and nerd squished into 5'3". I blog erratically, have a sweet-tooth and ramble too much.

“Currently” is a mid-monthly tag where I’ll be focusing on all the little happenings in my life.

I have been binging Queer Eye on Netflix and absolutely recommend the show.  It’s uplifting, endearing and empowering. For those who have never seen the original, the premise is 5 gay guys all different talents and specialities help straight guys sort out their lives. I had never truly followed the original as I was much younger then, but I am definitely hooked on this one.

All the gay guys are incredibly talented, funny, sweet and I’m not ashamed to admit, I’ve gotten teary in a few episodes. I love the message it promotes.

It’s been a great pick me up!

My music is on constant rotate as I’m a self-confessed music junkie. But I’ve been listening to a lot of….Aaron Carter. Yes you read that right. The ‘I Want Candy!’ guy. His latest album LØVË however is a good music of electronica-pop, reminiscent of Justin Bieber’s album Purpose. I had initially listened to his EP, also titled LoVË and had been impressed but hadn’t realized that he had released a full album.

My favourites are:  Sooner or Later, What Did You Want to Say?, Seattle TideZ, Champion

I haven’t purchased anything outrageous for this month yet, but I am eyeing some skincare products! In particular, Dear, Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drops! I’ve been using their Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Drops and Mask and I’m in love with it. I’m excited to try their anti-aging serum as I’m getting old 😥

A wedding, apparently.

My official status is engaged-to-be-engaged – an awkward limbo stage of suddenly planning a wedding while waiting for the engagement ceremony to be ‘officially engaged’. Confused? It’s okay. That’s basically just the story of my life.

My parents wish (i.e. demand) that I have a traditional engagement tea ceremony on an auspicious day as per Vietnamese tradition. They’ve already told me the date – 8th July, 2018. And the wedding date is going to either be the 30th of March, 2019 or 6th of April, 2019. Yes, my parents really believe in auspicious days. So while we want for the engagement, I get to plan a wedding….

Confused? Me too. Cue the awkward do we congratulate you or not? 😂

That being said, despite the confusion and mayhem, I’m extremely excited and happy that I will soon be starting a new chapter of my life with my amazing partner and soul mate 😊 We’ve already decided to relinquish any thought of control on the wedding or selectively chose our battles when our parents going crazy, so hopefully it’s a stress-free journey!
