I’ve recently purchased two The Ordinary products from Adore Beauty.
The Ordinary is a skincare brand that’s received much hype and I’ve been um-ing and er-ing for a while do I really need more skincare products that might not have a place in my routine. I’ve told myself – no more jumping on the bandwagon unless something needed replacing! 😄
The two items are the The Ordinary Argireline Solution 10% and The Ordinary Full Coverage Foundation (2.0N). And they happily fit in my routine, but will they stay there?
The Ordinary Argireline Solution 10%
So according to their website
ARGIRELINE™ is a trademark owned by Barcelona-based Lipotec S.A.U. It is a proprietary solution of Acetyl Hexapeptide-8. Controlled studies have shown that ARGIRELINE™ improves the appearance of facial areas prone to developing dynamic folds, including around the eyes and in the forehead area.
Apply a few drops on the forehead and around the eyes twice daily before heavier treatments.
Aqua (Water), Propanediol, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Gellan Gum, Sodium Chloride, Isoceteth-20, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin.
Yes, I’m using it for my under-eye wrinkles 😭 I’m 25 but unfortunately have terrible under-eye wrinkles. I believe I’ve gotten them from eye-strain from staring too much at the computer. Not the best, since I have to stare at the computer every day for work BUT I’m now maintaining my eye health by taking breaks when I can (and when I remember).

The solution is what the name suggests – it’s water, light and scentless. I love products that come in dropper form as it makes it so much easier to get the product out and it’s hygienic! Unfortunately though, as it’s quite watery, I have to make sure I manoeuvre my fingers in such a way so the solution doesn’t roll off my fingers.
As I’m only targeting my under-eyes, I haven’t really noticed any breakouts or irritation. I was initially worried that it would irritate my under-eye as my eyes are very sensitive but I haven’t gotten a reaction yet!
I’ve been using it for about 1 week and while there haven’t been mind-blowing results, I think it’s doing a decent job. I’ve noticed my concealer isn’t creasing into my fine lines under my eyes as much – so that’s definitely something!
Shelf or Shelved?
With anti-aging products, I’ll need more time to evaluate the product to see if it’s helping my wrinkles. So far, it still has a place in my routine and on my shelf.
I’ll probably follow up after 1 month to see if it belongs on my shelf.
The Ordinary Coverage Foundation (2.0N)
Coverage Foundations are full-coverage formulations available in a comprehensive shade range across 21 shades. These foundations contain higher pigment levels than our Serum Foundations but still offer a smooth finish that avoids the heavy makeup look that can make skin appear more aged. The texture is that of a lightweight, non-oily cream.
Shake before use. Dispense a small amount into the palm or the back of your hand. Smooth on and blend throughout the face, ideally outward from the midpoint of the face.

I’ve been wanting a new foundation for quite some time. I’ve used Benefit’s Big Easy BB Cream for years. As BB creams go, it has light coverage and I’ve been happy with that as my skin doesn’t need full coverage. I prefer focusing on skincare rather than makeup (though I’ve been trying to experiment with makeup! My attempts are pretty basic 😂 I have never quite learnt the art of contouring, highlighting or eyeshadow).
But when I purchased The Ordinary Argireline Solution 10%, I needed something to fill my cart. I considered their Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane product but decided I’ll try out their Coverage Foundation instead. That being said, if anyone has tried their Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane product and have any thoughts – I’ll be eager to read your experience! It’s probably next on my list.
Anyways, I decided to take the plunge and looking at their colour swatches.
I decided I was more like 2.0 N. But I am notoriously bad at picking colour swatches for myself, even when I do it at the store. For some reason it looks great in the store then I apply it at home and look terrible! So doing it online was a totally risky move on my part but for $12 AUD, I thought what did I have to lose?

The swatch thankfully fits my skin colour. I could possibly have gone for a 2.0P but I can make the 2.0N work. I’ve been wearing it to work every day and have been periodically checking how it’s been going on my skin (the guys at work are now used to me just checking myself out 😂).
I definitely agree that the foundation is lightweight! I absolutely love that as I hate that heavy makeup feeling where my skin can’t breathe! It has a matte finish that thankfully doesn’t leave my skin looking too dry. The makeup does start caking a little bit after 4-6 hours – for me it’s mainly around my forehead. But nothing a quick spritz of Rose Water can’t fix up.
I’ve had some issues with Benefit’s Big Easy BB Cream for a while but have worked around it as I’ve been lazy to find a new foundation. My main issue was that it used to dry out my skin, despite my skincare routine of ensuring my skin was moisturised. The Ordinary Coverage Foundation does a pretty good job with not drying my skin out and helps my skin tone out! I don’t need too much coverage so I’m happy that it’s has a medium coverage (that I assume can be buildable but I don’t use too much for everyday use). Which means it should last me a while!
Shelf or Shelved?
Definitely shelf for now! I love it’s low price point and how it feels on my skin 😍
